Tottenham Hotspur are understood to be chasing Atletico Madrid forward Kevin Gameiro this month, with a view to taking the Frenchman on loan until the end of the season.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino - who is seeking cover for striker Harry Kane - is considering opening talks with the Spanish club, according to The Sun.
However, the newspaper also says that Madrid would rather sell the 30-year-old, whose transfer value is expected to decrease after this month.
Gameiro, who is on the periphery at the Wanda Metropolitano, has been deemed surplus to requirements by manager Diego Simeone, with the Argentine willing to break ties with the player.
The forward has also received offers from Swansea City and Turkish side Fenerbahce.
