Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Unai Simon emerges as a transfer target for Tottenham Hotspur, according to a report.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Unai Simon as a long-term replacement for current number one Hugo Lloris.

Simon has spent his entire professional career with Athletic, representing the Basque outfit on 115 occasions in all competitions, including 23 outings during the 2021-22 campaign.

According to Marca, Tottenham are admirers of the Spain international and believe that he could be a long-term successor to Lloris, who will turn 36 later this year.

The report claims that Spurs 'are serious' about pursuing Simon but will have to make a large offer to convince Athletic to sell the goalkeeper in the near future.

The Spaniard's current deal with his Basque side is due to run until June 2025, although it is understood that there is no release clause in the agreement.

Simon is currently Spain's number one goalkeeper ahead of Manchester United's David de Gea and Brighton & Hove Albion's Robert Sanchez.
