Andre Villas-Boas will reportedly let Rafael van der Vaart leave the club in order to purchase new players.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly willing to sell Dutch midfielder Rafael van der Vaart this summer.

New boss Andre Villas-Boas is said to be willing to sanction the sale of the 29-year-old in order to free up funds for him to strengthen his squad in other areas.

Van der Vaart, who has two years remaining on his contract at White Hart Lane, is one of the club's highest earners.

His departure would allow Villas-Boas to complete moves for Emmanuel Adebayor, Hugo Lloris and Damiao, according to the London Evening Standard.

Van der Vaart joined Spurs in 2010 from Real Madrid.
