Daniel Levy flies out for Jan Vertonghen talks

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy flies to Holland to try to conclude a deal for Ajax defender Jan Vertonghen.

Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy has flown to Holland to try to complete a deal for Ajax captain Jan Vertonghen.

The Belgian, who has openly admitted his desire to leave the Dutch champions this summer, has interested a number of clubs but Spurs now seem to be in pole position for his signature.

He has apparently agreed personal terms ahead of a move to White Hart Lane, but the two clubs are still negotiating over the transfer fee.

Vertonghen is valued at around £13m by his current employers, but Levy, who was photographed at the Amsterdam ArenA earlier today, is reportedly only willing to pay £10m for the defender.

Spurs' North London rivals Arsenal and AC Milan are also thought to be admirers of the 25-year-old.
