Lassana Diarra describes reports suggesting an agreement had been reached with Spurs as a "lie".

Real Madrid midfielder Lassana Diarra has dismissed rumours that an agreement has been reached for a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur.

The 26-year-old former Chelsea, Arsenal and Portsmouth man has been heavily linked with a switch to Spurs and a reunion with his former boss at Pompey Harry Redknapp.

Reports had earlier suggested that the White Hart Lane side were closing in on a €12m (£10.5m) deal for the defensive midfielder.

However, when asked on the issue Diarra denied he was set to leave the Spanish capital and stated his belief that his future still lay at the Bernabeu.

"The information about my departure is a lie," he told AS. "There is no agreement from Tottenham and I do not think there will be."
