Tottenham Hotspur boss Andre Villas-Boas says that he expects striker Emmanuel Adebayor to stay put during the January transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has insisted that striker Emmanuel Adebayor will remain a Spurs player come the end of January.

Reports had emerged recently claiming that the Togolese forward was considering an exit from White Hart Lane, despite permanently signing for the North London club in the summer.

When asked by Sky Sports News if Adebayor was expected to depart in three months' time, Villas-Boas said: "No I don't think so. I don't think the club will be willing to let anyone go in January."

The 28-year-old has had limited appearances for Spurs this season due to a number of minor injuries and Villas-Boas's preference to play Jermain Defoe up front.
