Mauricio Pochettino "very proud" of Tottenham Hotspur players

Mauricio Pochettino speaks of his pride after seeing Tottenham Hotspur slash the deficit to league leaders Leicester City to five points.

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that he was "very proud" of the way that his players coped with the pressure during tonight's match against Stoke City.

The North Londoners went into the clash at the Britannia Stadium knowing that failure to win would put a serious dent in their Premier League title aspirations.

However, they ended up closing the gap on leaders Leicester City to five points courtesy of a comprehensive 4-0 victory.

"It was a great game and I'm very pleased with the performance. We're still fighting. Our dream is to fight and to put pressure on Leicester and the performance and the result was fantastic," the Argentine told Sky Sports News.

"Today I feel very proud. Stoke wanted to win the game and we showed personality and character. Maybe today is one of the performances that you feel most proud of because of the character to cope with the pressure.

"We showed hunger and passion. I have a squad of players who feel passion about the game. They deserve praise and credit for their season."

Next up for Pochettino's charges is a home game against West Bromwich Albion a week today.
