Mauricio Pochettino avoids title talk

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino plays down speculation that his side could challenge Manchester City and Liverpool for the title.

Mauricio Pochettino was keen to downplay any suggestions that his Tottenham Hotspur side could be in the running for the title this season after their late win over Burnley this afternoon.

Christian Eriksen struck late on for the hosts at Wembley to make it three league wins in a row and leave Spurs third in the Premier League table, five points behind leaders Manchester City.

The result came just days after the side's famous victory over Barcelona in the Champions League and keeps up pressure on City and Liverpool at the top end of the table.

Asked if he believed his side could upset the odds and win the title this term, Pochettino told reporters afterwards: "I don't want to say that because [then] people will twist my words.

"I can tell you that all is possible in football and all can happen. We are going to try - like previous seasons we try always to win. Maybe this season it can happen but the most important thing is to try and give your best."

Next up for Spurs is a trip to rivals Arsenal in the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup on Wednesday night.
