Tottenham Hotspur release statement denying Frank de Boer reports

Tottenham Hotspur release a statement claiming that reports that they have approached Frank de Boer are "wholly inaccurate".

Tottenham Hotspur have released a statement insisting that they have not approached anyone about becoming manager, despite claims made by Ajax coach Frank de Boer.

The 43-year-old revealed yesterday that he is open to holding talks with the North London outfit when the Dutch season comes to a close at the weekend.

However, the Premier League outfit have claimed on their official website that no coach has been contacted regarding a possible management job.

The statement read: "Reports that we have made approaches to other clubs regarding coaching staff are wholly inaccurate. We have NOT contacted any club regarding coaching appointments.

"We regret that a statement such as this is necessary, however we feel it is important to clarify matters."

It has been widely reported that Tim Sherwood will be relieved of his duties in the summer after he took over from Andre Villas-Boas in December.
