Former Tottenham Hotspur manager David Pleat believes that Franco Baldini will have a positive effect on the club as director of football.

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager David Pleat has insisted that Franco Baldini will have a positive impact at the club as director of football.

The Italian was recently appointed at White Hart Lane following a two-year spell with Roma.

"I think it will work because [Andre Villas-Boas] has worked with a director of football before," Pleat told talkSPORT.

"He understands the role of a director of football. I'm sure Franco Baldini will do a good job st Spurs."

Baldini acted as Fabio Capello's assistant with the England national team before joining Roma.
