Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane urges "calm" over the club's failure to sign any players during the summer window, in addition to their delayed move to a new ground.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has urged "calm" around the club following growing concerns over their failures to open their new stadium on time and sign any new players during the summer transfer window.

Tottenham's 2018-19 campaign has got off to a disrupted start by the news that they will have to wait longer than expected before they move into their new ground, while they also became the first team in Premier League history not to bring in a single new signing during the summer window.

Despite that, Spurs have won their opening two games of the new season, and Kane insists that they still have a squad capable of competing at the highest level.

"Everyone just needs to be calm. As the gaffer said the other day, the stadium is a huge project - it isn't going to happen overnight. We wanted it to happen in a year, which would have been amazing but it might be a little longer," he told reporters.

"With the transfer window, we're not going to buy players for the sake of it. We're only going to buy players to strengthen. Obviously in this market, they didn't think that was an option.

"We've got a great squad, we've kept a lot of our top players, which is important. We've been playing now for a few years together and that's the understanding you need. When times get tough, you know you've got each other's back and that's what you need throughout a Premier League season."

Kane scored his first ever Premier League goal in August to help his side to victory over Fulham on Saturday.
