Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane admits that his side are no longer a young team and must start winning silverware to mark their progress under Mauricio Pochettino.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has admitted that his side must start winning trophies if they are to continue their progress under manager Mauricio Pochettino.

It is now more than 10 years since Spurs last got their hands on silverware, but they have recorded three successive top-three finishes in the Premier League - a feat they last achieved in the top flight in the early 1960s.

However, Kane acknowledged that they can no longer be regarded as a young squad and talked up the importance of ending their trophy drought as soon as possible.

"Look, we're a team that has made huge strides in a short amount of time and for us it's just about continuing that. The only way to do that is to start winning things. We're at a stage when we're not young anymore," he told reporters.

"We're getting to an age where we're that bit more experienced and we want to win. We want to win everything we do. We've just got to try to do that.

"When you have a team that knows each other for that long, you know how each other play on the pitch and off the pitch, you know how to keep everyone up for it and everyone honest. That's what we've got. Hopefully we can just continue that - playing hard, training hard. So far, so good."

Spurs have won their opening two games of the new Premier League season.
