Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jermaine Jenas has admitted that he would be "surprised" if manager Harry Redknapp turned down the chance to coach England.
The Spurs boss is the strong favourite to take the reins with the Three Lions, but the Football Association have yet to appoint Fabio Capello's successor, despite the European Championships around the corner.
"You have got to put yourself in the gaffer's shoes as well as you don't know if these opportunities are going to arise again," Jenas told Sky Sports News.
"It is the pinnacle of most managers' careers - it is what they aim for. I would be surprised if the opportunity did arise that he didn't take it."
Capello stepped down from his post following the controversy surrounding John Terry's demotion from the international captaincy.
