Christian Eriksen excited by London derby challenge

Christian Eriksen is hopeful that Tottenham Hotspur can rise to the challenge of taking on London rivals Chelsea on Sunday.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen has claimed that the players are excited by the prospect of continuing their fine form against London rivals Chelsea.

Spurs head into Sunday's meeting with the champions on the back of 12 games unbeaten in the Premier League, and a win would strike a blow to Chelsea's hopes of beating Mauricio Pochettino's side to a spot in the top four this season.

Despite their impressive run, Eriksen believes that Spurs will be punished for mistakes if they are not at their best at White Hart Lane.

"Everybody likes to play in derbies, they are more intense than other games and it's always nice to play in matches like that, but you always have to be wary of Chelsea – no matter what position they are in," the Dane told the club's website.

"Chelsea have quality all over the pitch – we know that and there's nothing new about it. We have to make sure we don't make any mistakes, keep ourselves in the game for as long as possible, keep it tight and then assert our own gameplan.

"Everyone is really happy and going for it at the moment. We all have the confidence to play some good football and that's what we want to do every time we play."

Spurs have collected seven points from a possible nine in London derbies this season.
