Half-Time Report: No way through for Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea in goalless first half

The deadlock remains intact at half time in the early Premier League kickoff between Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea in North London.

Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea have gone into half time all square in their Premier League meeting at White Hart Lane.

The much-anticipated high-noon showdown got off to a cagey start, as both sides struggled to find any real momentum inside the opening 15 minutes or so.

Harry Kane's effort from just outside the box, coming after some nice link-up play with Christian Eriksen, forced Asmir Begovic into making the first save of note with nearly a quarter of the game played.

Soon after Chelsea had their best opening of the afternoon up until that point as Eden Hazard - fielded as the Blues' most advanced player in the absence of Diego Costa - headed over from Oscar's left-sided cross.

It was a big chance for the visiting side to make a breakthrough, but they had another decent opportunity through Pedro just moments later, only for the Spaniard's effort to deflect over the bar via a deflection off Eric Dier.

Chelsea were enjoying their finest spell of the match, but Spurs almost pounced up the other end after Kane drifted out to the left and crossed for Son Heung-Min to test Begovic once more.

Mousa Dembele was the next Tottenham player to force a save out of the busy Chelsea keeper, this time ghosting past Cesc Fabregas before getting in a low drive on target.

Kane and Son tried their luck again prior to the interval, but both efforts ended comfortably over the bar to see the deadlock remain intact at the halfway stage.
