Good afternoon everyone. I know, it's an upsetting day. After today we'll have to wait until August to watch another Premier League game, but there's 10 more matches to go and I'm here to guide you through Everton vs. Spurs.

In truth, most of the focus is on the relegation battle this afternoon but Tottenham's season isn't over quite yet. Mauricio Pochettino's side are on the brink of reaching the Europa League for the fifth successive season. Some will argue that they could do with a year away from the competition, but if they match Southampton's result Manchester City they will clinch sixth spot. If Liverpool fail to beat Stoke City, Spurs could jump up to fifth.

After so many tough months in his second season in charge, Roberto Martinez can finish the campaign by earning a top-half finish with Everton this afternoon. It's not the success Everton supporters expected after impressing so many people last season, but there are signs that they are getting back to their best, arguably at the wrong time.

Martinez makes just one change to his side following last weekend's victory over West Ham United. Kevin Mirallas is recalled to the team and he replaces Aaron Lennon, who is unavailable due to the terms of his loan from Spurs. Brendan Galloway continues at left-back, while Romelu Lukaku once again leads the line.

Surprisingly, Pochettino has decided to change formation for the final game of the season. Eric Dier, Federico Fazio and Jan Vertonghen are at the back of what looks to be a 3-5-2. Mousa Dembele returns to the side in midfield, but Danny Rose is not involved.

There's bad news for Brad Friedel, who was in contention to be involved today after announcing he would retire at the end of the season to become a pundit in the US. The veteran goalkeeper was forced to have stitches on an injured shin recently and is unavailable. He will be missed!

STAT: Spurs have not won on any of their last seven visits to Goodison Park. Jermaine Jenas scored a late winner when they last beat Everton away from home in February 2007.

Harry Kane needs to score today to equal the club's Premier League record for most goal in a season. Teddy Sheringham, Jurgen Klinsmann and Gareth Bale all reached the 21-goal mark in the league. Kane will be desperate to finish a superb season in style.

Lukaku hasn't always been at his best since moving to Everton permanently for a club-record fee last summer, and he only managed to score his 10th league goal of the season to earn his side a win at West Ham last week. We've come to expect so much from the young Belgian. He'll fancy his chances of performing better when the squad returns in July, but he could boost his confidence again with another strong display today.

In the build up to the season finale, Martinez made it clear just how eager he was to give the Everton supporters something to celebrate before the summer.

"Winning is the most important aspect in football and it would be fantastic to get a good performance that can give everyone a really good feeling going into the summer," the Spaniard told the club's website. "You look at the Spurs side and we are very similar in terms of the tempo we like to play at and the way we want to play the game, so it will be a really interesting game."

There certainly is a feeling that we might not see the best of Spurs, who have fallen short of their best form since losing ground on the teams in the top four. Another Europa League campaign might not be ideal, but Spurs really should be looking at the competition as something to win.

"We have the opportunity to achieve fifth in the table and we need to put our energy into Everton," he told reporters.

STAT: Spurs have beaten Everton on 21 occasions in the Premier League, more than against any other side. Roberto Soldado netted the winner in the reverse fixture back in November. Could he make an impact off the bench?

There are four academy graduates in the Tottenham side today, and youngster Harry Winks and Joshua Onomah have also been given places on the bench this afternoon. Pochettino remains committed to bringing younger players into the first team. Spurs supporters will be hoping it pays off in the future.

STAT: Everton have made a league-high 15 errors directly leading to goals in 2014-15.

Everton get the game underway!

It was suggested that Spurs would start the game with three at the back, but it actually looks like Nabil Bentaleb is filling in on the left side of defence. I've not seen him play there before. Very little to report in the early stages.

Spurs are putting pressure on the ball very high up the pitch in the early stages of the game, which is limiting the space on offer to the hosts, who have dominated possession so far.

There's some clever footwork on show when Lamela earns himself a yard of space outside the box, but he can only send his shot over the crossbar.

Spurs are starting to see a bit more of the ball now as Eriksen and Chadli link up, but the Dane can't collect the ball after a flick from his teammate.

Mason exchanges passes with Eriksen before bursting into the box, but the referee is not interested when the midfielder goes down under pressure from Stones.

It's been a bright start to the match with both sides looking to move the ball quickly in attacking areas, but the defending has been good so far. We're still waiting for the first chance.

Kane gets involved for the first time when Eriksen slides a pass into the England striker, but his low strike is easily blocked by Jagielka.

Spurs are improving with every passing minute at Goodison Park. The midfielders have been in control of the match so far, and Barry and McCarthy are struggling to make an impact for the hosts.

SAVE! A mistake from Galloway gifts a chance to Lamela, who gets into the box before stinging Howard's palm. The ball almost creeps in but the goalkeeper gathers at the second attempt.

CHANCE! Great opportunity for the hosts. Spurs play a very high line, and it almost costs them as Mirallas sprints clear of the defence but his effort is easily stopped by Lloris.

Good defending from Jagielka once again as he stands tall to block a Chadli effort after the Belgian had created space with a couple of clever touches.

Patient play from the visitors as they move the ball across the box before finding Kane, who fires his effort wide of the target.

Moments after Mirallas volleys over Spurs take the lead, and it's Kane who delivers the goods for his side once again. Dier is gifted the space to deliver a cross from the right and Kane makes the perfect run to find a yard before heading past Howard from close range. It's his 21st Premier League goal of the season.

Liverpool are currently losing 2-0 to Stoke at the Britannia Stadium, which means Spurs are on course to snatch fifth spot as it stands. Pochettino will be very happy with this performance so far.

Spurs come agonisingly close to a second as Kane drifts out wide before delivering an excellent cross which is just too strong for Chadli to reach in the box. Kane is making a big impact now.

You've got to wonder whether looking to break is helping Lukaku, who has barely had a kick in the first half. Spurs continue to dominate with Eriksen pulling the strings.

Crucial defending from Stones, who makes the block from Kane's effort after the Spurs striker had capitalised on a poor pass from Barkley.

Poor from Mirallas. Everton enjoy an extended spell of possession as they adopt a patient approach in midfield, but the Beglian can only slice a cross out of play.

Excellent defending from Vertonghen as he stays on his feet to force Lukaku out of the box before timing his tackle perfectly to win the ball back for Spurs.

The away fans get excited once again when Kane appears to break free of the Everton defence, but the flag halts his progress after he had drifted offside.

Mirallas is quick enough to sprint through after a hopeful ball forward, but he can only curl the ball over after Lloris had been forced off his line.

The fourth official confirms there will be one minute added on.

We're just 45 minutes away from the end of the season, and Spurs have been very impressive at Goodison Park. Everton have threatened a few times, but the visitors have been excellent in midfield and they lead thanks to another goal from Kane.

If leading 1-0 wasn't good enough, Spurs have been given a huge boost in their bid to claim fifth spot. Incredibly, Liverpool are losing 5-0 at the break against Stoke City. It's been shambolic from them, but Spurs are on course to benefit. As it stands, they will finish fifth.

We're back underway at Goodison Park!

Everton made a change at the break with Muhamed Besic coming on for Barkley.

CLOSE! Besic comes agonisingly close to making an immediate impact as he fires a low strike just wide of the post from 25 yards.

Everton have started the second half very well. Spurs are on the back foot at the moment as Osman sends an effort wide after a good header from Lukaku.

Galloway, making his Goodison Park debut, is quick enough to get in behind the Spurs defence but Lloris reacts well to charge off his line and deny the young full-back.

SUBSTITUTION: Pochettino makes his first change of the afternoon as Dembele comes off to be replaced by Benjamin Stambouli.

You've got to give a lot of credit to Everton. This has been a good response to a disappointing first half, but they need to find a clinical touch in the final third. Lukaku is still finding it tough to get involved further up the pitch.

Vertonghen has been very good today and he does well to get across to the ball after Barry had threatened to pick out Lukaku with an inviting cross.

It's the turn of the visitors to threaten as Kane's blocked shot sends the ball to Mason, who does well to find Eriksen but the Dane's deflected effort drifts over the crossbar.

Lamela is unable to find a teammate with a corner, but his second attempt reaches Fazio, who can only head wide of the post.

Excellent goalkeeping on show as Lloris charges off his line to punch clear a corner and he wins a free kick in the process.

Chadli does very well to get past Coleman on the left wing before unleashing a strike which is deflected behind for a corner.

SUBSTITUTION: Mirallas has seen plenty of the ball, but his end product has been poor this afternoon. Steven Naismith replaces the Belgian.

Everton have enjoyed a long spell on top, but Spurs are defending very well, which has not always been the case this season.

YELLOW CARD! Everton attempt to force the issue with a quick free kick, but Stambouli gets in the way to earn himself a booking.

YELLOW CARD! Mason's energy has been crucial in the Spurs midfield this afternoon and he's too quick for Jagielka, who goes into the book for a late challenge.

YELLOW CARD! It's getting a bit scrappy as Spurs attempt to close out the game, and Mason is the latest player to pick up a booking for stopping a counter-attack.

SUBSTITUTIONS: Distin is off the bench for his farewell appearance as Galloway comes off. Kane's afternoon is also over, with Andros Townsend coming on for the visitors.

Everton are running out of time to find an equaliser. Despite improving in the second half, Everton have certainly been second best this afternoon. It's been a very impressive defensive display from Spurs.
