Hugo Lloris: 'Tottenham Hotspur must play to win'

Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris says that Tottenham Hotspur must 'play to win' against Juventus, despite holding an advantage in their Champions League tie on away goals.

Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur cannot afford to try to hold on to their slender advantage over Juventus in their Champions League last-16 tie.

During the first leg in Turin, Spurs fought back from two goals down to secure a 2-2 draw against the Serie A giants, as well as claiming away goals which could potentially prove decisive on Wednesday night.

However, Lloris has suggested that Spurs must treat the fixture at Wembley Stadium as a one-off game, insisting that trying to play out a draw with last season's runners-up could play into the hands of their opponents.

At a press conference, the 31-year-old told reporters: "We were nearly out of the competition, but we turned the game around and were very pleased with the result. We have a little advantage, but at this level of the competition everything is possible."

"Our target is to win the game, enjoy the game and put in good energy with the help of the crowd. If you play for a draw, especially against an experienced team like Juventus, you can be in trouble."

Boss Mauricio Pochettino has said that teams now "respect" the Premier League side after positive results against Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus since the start of September.
