Republic of Ireland striker Robbie Keane believes that England players are not fully committed to playing for their country.

Republic of Ireland international Robbie Keane believes that he and his teammates care more about playing for their country than their England counterparts.

Keane admits that he is shocked by the decisions of the likes of John Terry and Rio Ferdinand to choose to retire from playing from the Three Lions, while still performing at a high level.

Keane told reporters: "It's very simple - I want to play for my country more than anything, and it still means as much to me now as when I made my debut at 18 years of age.

"I can never understand why players don't want to play for their country, it's very hard to take in.

"Most of their players are used to playing in Wembley finals or big Champions League games, World Cups and European Championships, so it probably does mean more to us."

The 32-year-old has played 123 times for his country and has scored a record 54 goals for his side.
