Martin O'Neill refuses to rule Seamus Coleman out of Euro qualifier with Germany

Matin O'Neil refuses to rule Seamus Coleman out of Thursday's clash with Germany, despite Roberto Martinez's fears over the right-back's fitness.

Republic of Ireland manager Martin O'Neill has said that they are taking it "day by day" with Seamus Coleman as the right-back looks to regain his fitness ahead of Thursday's European qualifier against Germany.

O'Neil refused to rule Coleman out of the fixture, despite Everton boss Roberto Martinez stating earlier in the week that he thought it was unlikely that the right-back would be fit to face the world champions.

"I doubt that it is going be two-three days and he is going to be fine, I think it will be a bit longer than that but we are going to work with Ireland," Martinez told the club's official website.

"Obviously he's very, very keen to play if he can but we'll see.

"He's getting better every single day and even though he wasn't involved with Everton, we'll have a look at him, see how he's getting on and, as I say, assess it day by day."

Republic of Ireland currently sit third in group D, four points off leaders Germany.
