Brazilian defender Eder Militao is in line for a new and improved contract at Real Madrid, according to a report.

Eder Militao is reportedly in line for a new and improved contract at Real Madrid.

The 24-year-old initially found it difficult to break into the Los Blancos side upon his arrival from Porto in July 2019, with Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane first choice at the heart of the team's defence.

Ramos and Varane both left Bernabeu last summer, though, and Militao has been a vital player for Carlo Ancelotti's side this term, making 44 appearances in all competitions, contributing two goals and three assists in the process.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the capital giants 'have already prepared' their contract proposal for the Brazilian, with an agreement potentially being reached 'in the coming weeks'.

Militao's current deal at Bernabeu is due to run until June 2025, but the centre-back is expected to be handed a pay rise due to his importance to the club.

The South American has made 85 appearances for Real Madrid since arriving from Porto, contributing four goals and four assists in the process.

Los Blancos are also said to be planning to hand new contracts to Vinicius Junior and Luka Modric, with the pair both key players for the club during the 2021-22 campaign.
