Newcastle United have tabled a bid for Eden Hazard ahead of the January transfer market according to reports.
The Magpies have been linked with a variety of players in the upcoming window, with this being the first opportunity to buy players since the club was taken over.
Newcastle are in the midst of a relegation battle and will be keen to bring in new faces in order to bolster the squad heading into the second half of the season.
According to El Nacional, Newcastle made a bid of £34.6m to sign the former Chelsea winger; however, Real Madrid are hoping to receive £42m, which is proving to be the sticking point at the moment.
The report also noted that the player is hoping to join a 'top club' and with Eddie Howe's team currently bottom of the Premier League without a victory, it could prove to be tough to persuade him.
Hazard has missed over 60 games throughout his time with the Spanish outfit due to a variety of injury problems that have plagued his time with Real Madrid.
