Lucas Vazquez: 'Real Madrid critics are jealous'

Real Madrid attacker Lucas Vazquez says that critics of his team are simply 'envious' of their success.

Real Madrid attacker Lucas Vazquez has claimed that critics of his team are simply 'envious' of their success.

Los Blancos have once again reached the semi-finals of the Champions League as they bid to win the European Cup for a third time in succession.

The Madrid giants have been unable to defend their La Liga title, however, and currently sit third in the table - 15 points off runaway leaders Barcelona.

Zinedine Zidane's side were also shocked by Leganes in the Copa del Rey this season, but Vazquez has shrugged off the criticism of his team that has arrived this season.

"Many people are happy about our bad results," Marca quotes Vazquez as saying. "It hurts them to see that we have reached eight [Champions League] semi-finals in a row and it creates envy with them.

"We must learn to live with these remarks and accept that this is what they want to focus upon."

Real returned to winning ways in La Liga with a 2-1 success away to the league's bottom club Malaga on Sunday night.
