Cristiano Ronaldo says that he is in no hurry to extend his contract with Real Madrid.

Real Madrid attacker Cristiano Ronaldo has insisted that he is in no hurry to extend his contract with the club.

The 27-year-old's current deal is due to expire in the summer of 2015 but recent reports have claimed that the Spanish champions are keen to tie him down to longer terms.

However, the former Manchester United player has revealed that he is more concerned with helping the team to achieve positive results on the pitch.

"My renewal is not the most important thing. What's more important is to win the coming games, fight for La Liga and for the Champions League," he told reporters.

Meanwhile, Madrid currently trail leaders Barcelona by 16 points in La Liga. Despite confessing that it will be "very difficult" for his side to overturn that deficit, Ronaldo has refused to give up hope of Los Blancos retaining the title.

"The Liga is now very complicated. I'm not going to lie, it is going to be very difficult. But mathematically, it is possible," he told reporters.

Ronaldo joined Madrid from Man United in 2009.
