Real Madrid team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Barcelona

Sports Mole rounds up Real Madrid's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Wednesday's El Clasico showdown with Barcelona.

Real Madrid head into Wednesday's El Clasico showdown with Barcelona level on points with their fierce rivals at the top of the La Liga standings.

However, having watched Barcelona draw with Real Sociedad on Saturday afternoon, Los Blancos were unable to take full advantage a day later as they were held by Valencia.

Ahead of the trip to Camp Nou, Zinedine Zidane also has plenty of issues in the treatment room, none of which are said to have improved since last week.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Madrid's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the clash between the two Spanish giants.

Having sustained a serious knee injury during pre-season, Asensio faces a race against time to return before the end of the season.

James Rodriguez is expected to miss the remainder of 2019 after suffering a knee injury during a training session with Colombia in November. As it stands, no return date has been pencilled in for the playmaker.

Status: Out
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: Unknown

Eden Hazard will be on the sidelines for the remainder of the year after being diagnosed with an "external micro-fracture" of his right ankle. While the summer arrival will be hoping to return in the New Year, no specifics have been revealed by Los Blancos.

Marcelo

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Calf
Possible return date: December 18 (vs. Barcelona)

Having recently sustained a calf injury, Marcelo is regarded as a major doubt for Wednesday's showdown. The return of Ferland Mendy from suspension will likely lead to Zidane taking no risks on the Brazilian.

Real have no players who are suspended for this match.
