St Johnstone striker Francisco Sandaza says that he made a "good decision" not to sign for Rangers last month.

St Johnstone striker Franciso Sandaza has admitted his relief in turning down a pre-contract deal to move to Rangers following the club's recent turmoil.

The 27-year-old was close to an agreement with the SPL champions but decided against a switch in the January transfer window.

Since the forward's snub, the Scottish outfit have plunged into administration, with London firm Duff and Phelps moving in at Ibrox to resolve the club's financial woes.

"I feel sorry for Rangers because I like them," Sandaza told the Daily Record. "I've personally made a good decision but I wish them all the best. Nobody wants to be at a club in administration.

"But I hope they come out of that situation because they are a great club and everybody would like to play for them, even though at the moment they are having a hard time.

"It depends on the situation they are in but I've never said I don't want to play for them [in the future]. They are a big club."

Meanwhile, Rangers boss Ally McCoist believes that the Gers will not suffer a large amount of job cuts.
