Harry Redknapp: 'I didn't need Djibril Cisse'

Harry Redknapps says that he no longer needed Djibril Cisse at Queens Park Rangers.

Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp has admitted that he no longer needed striker Djibril Cisse at Loftus Road.

The French striker joined Quatar outfit Al-Gharafa on loan for the rest of the season, in the wake of the Hoops bringing in Loic Remy from Marseille.

Redknapp concedes that Cisse was surplus to requirements at the London outfit after he signed Remy last week.

"It saves us some wages and I think he's up for that," Redknapp said. "He wants to play.

"Hopefully Bobby Zamora is on his way back. I think Zamora and Remy can be a real partnership.

"I didn't ask him [Cisse] to stay. The chief exec said there was an offer to play somewhere. There's no problem."

Cisse has scored four goals in 21 appearances for QPR during the current campaign.
