Paris Saint-Germain boss Unai Emery says that he is hopeful that Neymar will return from injury in time for the club's Champions League tie with Real Madrid.

Paris Saint-Germain boss Unai Emery has said that he is hopeful that Neymar will return from injury in time for the club's Champions League tie with Real Madrid.

The Brazilian forward was stretchered off with an ankle injury during Sunday's 3-0 Ligue 1 win over Marseille, in which Kylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani scored to seal the win for the hosts.

Emery, who confirmed that Neymar had suffered a sprain, added that the club are optimistic ahead of further tests on the 26-year-old.

"The first tests we have done show it is a sprain, we will do more medical examinations to be totally sure," the former Sevilla manager told reporters at a press conference. "Neymar is going to do some new tests. We're going to stay optimistic.

"If today I had to say yes or no to be fit against Real [Madrid], I would say yes. I want to be optimistic."

Neymar will now miss the cup meeting with Marseille on Wednesday, as well as Saturday's game against Troyes.
