Guy Whittingham: 'We let the fans down'

Guy Whittingham says that Portsmouth let their fans down against AFC Wimbledon.

Portsmouth manager Guy Whittingham has said that his players let the fans down after they lost 4-0 to AFC Wimbledon on Saturday.

Pompey were second best for the majority of the match and afterwards Whittingham kept the players in the dressing room.

"Of course it hurts. We've let those fans downs. They've got us through the hardest period in this club's history," he told the Portsmouth News.

"And they stayed. I wouldn't have blamed them for heading for the exits. We have to go back to basics.

"We made mistakes. The goals we gave away weren't good enough. People have jobs to do. We have to do something about it. It's only hard work that can sort this out."

Pompey are 16th in League Two.
