Dougie Freedman desperate to get Nottingham Forest strikers back

Dougie Freedman believes that Nottingham Forest can go on a long winning streak when his injured strikers return to full fitness.

Nottingham Forest manager Dougie Freedman has said that he is counting down the days until his injured strikers return to fitness.

Freedman's comments come after Forest failed to score for the first time in six games in a goalless draw at Blackburn Rovers.

Both Matty Fryatt and Britt Assombalonga are yet to play this season because of injury, but they are due to return next month.

"If I'm trying to get the team promoted, I don't think I've got enough firepower," Freedman told reporters after last night's stalemate.

"You've got to win four or five games on the bounce. My firepower - Britt and Matty Fryatt - is coming back in January so our job right now is to get in a position to win four or five where it will mean something."

Freedman has called on his players to use the steely points gained at Wolverhampton Wanderers and Blackburn in the last two games to go on a winning run.

"It's points at Wolves and away at Blackburn that gives you that opportunity to win four or five games on the bounce. That's the kind of outlook that I've got on the night's result."

Four of Forest's next six league matches are at home, starting with the visit of 22nd-placed MK Dons on Saturday.
