FIFA president Sepp Blatter will appeal the 90-day suspension handed to him by the FIFA ethics committee, according to his advisor Klaus Stohlker.
On Thursday, Blatter, as well as UEFA president Michel Platini and FIFA general secretary Jerome Valcke, was banned for the time period as investigations continue into alleged corruption.
Valcke has already denied any wrongdoing, and 24 hours after his suspension was announced, Blatter has signalled his intent to challenge the decision.
Stohlker said: "He is defending his position, and he is sure that he will be found not guilty."
Blatter is due to step down as president of FIFA in February.
