Hawk-Eye awarded Premier League goal-line technology contract

British company Hawk-Eye's system has been chosen as the goal-line technology to be used in the Premier League from next season.

British-based company Hawk-Eye has been confirmed as the provider of next season's goal-line technology for the Premier League.

The decision was made during Thursday's Premier League meeting, as had been expected earlier in the week.

Hawk-Eye was preferred to the German alternative Goalcontrol and will become active for the start of he next Premier League season.

The company's technology has been used successfully in cricket and tennis in recent years and will be installed at all Premier League grounds as well as Wembley Stadium.

The recommendation to use the seven camera-based system was made for the low cost and ease of implementation compared to the alternatives.

It is expected to cost between £125,000 and £250,000 to install at each ground.
