Romain Amalfitano refuses to confirm reports that he has agreed a free transfer to Newcastle United this summer.

Romain Amalfitano has refused to confirm speculation that he has agreed terms over a free transfer to Newcastle United this summer.

The 23-year-old's contract with Ligue 2 side Reims is due to expire in the summer and recent reports have claimed that Newcastle boss Alan Pardew has secured the midfielder's services for the new season.

However, Amalfitano has revealed that he has been presented with other alternatives, should he decide to spurn Newcastle's advances.

"It would be a dream come true, but also a big step from Ligue 2 in France to the Premier League," he told Sky Sports News. "I know there is a lot of reports that I signed for Newcastle but I have contacts with other clubs as well.

"I think my good season in the Ligue 2 has impressed many scouts in Europe's top league.

"Everyone will know at the end of the season where I will be playing my football next season."

Amalfitano began his career with Ligue 1 club Evian.
