Newcastle United winger Jonas Gutierrez describes his team's next two matches as "important" for their survival chances.

Jonas Gutierrez has admitted that the next two matches could shape Newcastle United's season.

As it stands, the Magpies are 15th in the Premier League table and are just three points above the relegation zone.

With Fulham and Sunderland up next at St James' Park, Argentine winger Gutierrez has expressed the significance of his side collecting two positive results.

"We have to take a few more wins. We are not going to be safe with the points that we have so we need more points," he told the club's official website.

"We have two home games which are going to be difficult for us so the next 15 days are the most important of the year."

Gutierrez was speaking after Newcastle were defeated 4-0 away at Manchester City yesterday afternoon.
