Cheik Tiote insists that Newcastle United will "give everything" to beat Sunderland this weekend.

Newcastle United midfielder Cheik Tiote has insisted that he and his teammates will "give everything" to beat Sunderland at the weekend.

The Magpies take on their fierce rivals at the Stadium of Light this Sunday 10 points ahead of the Black Cats in the Premier League table.

"If we do our jobs, we will win games," Tiote told the Shields Gazette. "That is the most important thing.

"We must stay compact as a team and stay together. If we do, we'll win the game. When you're on the pitch you have to give everything for the fans and the manager."

Gus Poyet will lead Sunderland for his second game since he took over as head coach.
