Siem de Jong has claimed that he hopes to get his first-team "chance" at Newcastle United "quickly".
The 26-year-old, who joined the Magpies from Ajax for £6m last summer, has not been given a Premier League start at all this season so far.
"I'll do my best in training and get as many minutes here and with the Under-21s as possible to stay fit," The Chronicle quotes De Jong as saying. "I'm just waiting to get my chance. I hope it comes quickly, but it's up to the manager.
"I'm fit, but I haven't played for a while. I've been fit all season. It's not a question of being fit, it's a question of getting a chance for a couple of games in a row."
De Jong has made just one league start since signing for Newcastle.
