Fabricio Coloccini closing in on Newcastle United comeback

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew says that Fabricio Coloccini could be fit for this Sunday's Wear-Tyne derby.

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has revealed that captain Fabricio Coloccini has a chance of being fit for this weekend's Wear-Tyne derby against Sunderland.

The Argentine has been out of action since picking up a groin injury while on international duty, and was initially expected to miss out on Sunday's clash.

"Colo has had a really good week," Pardew said in a press conference. "If he's ready I've got no hesitation about putting him in. If not against Sunderland, against Chelsea or Manchester City."

Coloccini's teammate Steven Taylor is reportedly not ready to re-enter the fold due to injury.
