New England Revolution 2-1 Colorado Rapids

New England Revolution come from behind to beat Colorado Rapids 2-1 at the Gillette Stadium in Boston.

Goals from Saer Sene and Fernando Cardenas have given New England Revolution a 2-1 victory over Colorado Rapids.

Sene had an opportunity to open the scoring for the home side in the sixth minute but the forward failed to direct his header on target from a teasing Kevin Alston cross.

The game was played in a very open fashion in the first half and the inevitable opening goal was scored in the 21st minute.

It was Colorado who seized the advanatage from a Martin Rivero corner as Jaime Castrillon found space in the penalty area to fire his header past Matt Reis in the New England goal.

The hosts were almost level just moments later after more good work from Alston but Shalrie Joseph was at fault for not finding the target with his header.

However, New England were not behind for much longer as a loose ball fell to Sene inside the box and the striker promptly powered his shot past Matt Pickens.

As the first half entered it's final stages New England took the lead when Cardenas collected a pass from Sene before curling his shot past a helpless Pickens.

The second half failed to produce the same open style as the first period but Colorado still almost levelled the match in the 64th minute as Cummings' header flew over the crossbar.

Castrillon came closest to an equaliser for the visitors but Matt Reis was able to produce a stunning save to deny the midfielder.

New England controlled the match in the final stages and almost extended their lead but Sene was unable to hit the target with his long-range shot.
