Nancy have moved out of the relegation zone after a 2-0 win over Lyon on Saturday.
It was the home side who began the match the stronger and Salif Sane struck just wide after four minutes.
Lyon began to dominate possession as the half progressed but it was Nancy who continued to create the better openings, with Sebastien Puygrenier just missing the target after good work from Daniel Niculae.
Yohan Mollo was next to go close for Nancy, before Bafetimbi Gomis nearly scored for Lyon with an effort after 22 minutes.
Lyon twice went close to breaking the deadlock after 38 minutes via Lisandro Lopez and Michel Bastos, but both struck wide from close range.
The home side took the lead after 66 minutes when Puygrenier headed a Mollo cross into the net.
It was two for the home side after 75 minutes when Djamel Bakar struck a fine effort from outside the area into the top left of the goal.
Lyon pushed for a goal in the latter stages, and came close via Maxime Gonalons, but Nancy held on for a welcome three points.
Nancy have moved up to 16th, while Lyon have dropped to sixth.
