Portland Timbers have held on to register a narrow 2-1 win away at Montreal Impact in the MLS.
The Canadian side were on top early on as Marco Donadel went close before Ignacio Piatti fired marginally over.
Donadel forced Adam Kwarasey into a fine save from a free kick as the hosts continued to dominate, but neither side could find a first-half breakthrough.
Nat Borchers gave Portland the lead just after the hour-mark with a powerful header, after Liam Ridgewell had hit the crossbar.
The visitors had the momentum and doubled their advantage 10 minutes later with an unstoppable effort from Diego Valeri which curled into the top corner.
However, Montreal got one back immediately as Dominic Oduro bundled the ball in and the hosts thought that they had equalised through Jack Mclerney, but the goal was ruled out and Portland held on to win.
