Mexico captain Andres Guardado has urged officials to stop Neymar's theatrics, claiming that the Brazil forward "likes to exaggerate fouls".
Paris Saint-Germain attacker Neymar had a penalty overturned by VAR in Brazil's 2-0 defeat of Costa Rica after it was ruled that the 26-year-old went down too easily following a slight pull of his shirt.
Guardado has backed referees and VAR officials to watch out for such incidents in the last-16 clash between the teams on Monday evening.
"We all know who Neymar is, but it isn't up to me or my team to judge him, but the referees and FIFA,' the midfielder told the Daily Mail.
"Now there's VAR they need to watch his style and know how to manage it. We know he likes to exaggerate fouls, throw himself on the ground a lot, but that's his style of play and the person who needs to stop that is the referee, not us."
Brazil topped Group E with a win over Serbia, while Mexico finished runners-up in Group F behind Sweden.
