Aston Villa, Sunderland plot Darren Fletcher moves?

A report claims that Aston Villa and Sunderland are looking to sign Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher on a free transfer next summer.

Aston Villa and Sunderland are reportedly keen to sign Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher.

The Scot has struggled to force his way into Louis van Gaal's plans this term, having made just nine appearances in all competitions, many of which have come as a substitute.

The 30-year-old is open to the prospect of remaining at Old Trafford, but with just six months left to run on his contract, he has also started to consider the possibility that he may have to move on, according to the Daily Mail.

That has alerted both Villa and the Black Cats, although Fletcher is unlikely to leave United during next month's January transfer window.

It is anticipated that were he to leave the club, he would depart on a free transfer in the summer.
