Manchester United could reportedly offer Phil Jones as a makeweight in a potential bid for Leicester City centre-back Harry Maguire ahead of the 2019-20 campaign.
United are said to be locked in talks with Leicester over a move for Maguire, who is believed to be valued between £80m and £90m by the Foxes.
According to The Telegraph, the Red Devils could attempt to lower the asking price by offering Brendan Rodgers's side the chance to sign Jones, who only penned a new long-term deal at Old Trafford in January.
The 27-year-old is currently with the United squad in Australia and was on the scoresheet in their 4-0 win over Leeds United in Perth on Wednesday.
Jones has consistently underperformed over the last few seasons, though, and could now seemingly be used in an attempt to lower the fee potentially paid out for Maguire.
Chris Smalling, Marcos Rojo, Eric Bailly, Victor Lindelof and Axel Tuanzebe are currently Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's other options in central defence.
