Manchester United make breakthrough in Daley Blind pursuit?

Manchester United are growing confident of signing Daley Blind after reportedly making a breakthrough in negotiations with Ajax over the transfer of the defender.

Manchester United are reportedly growing increasingly confident of signing Ajax star Daley Blind.

The Dutchman is believed to be a transfer priority of Red Devils manager Louis van Gaal, having been an ever-present in his Netherlands World Cup team.

Van Gaal is determined to bring Blind to Old Trafford having missed out on other defensive targets, with Thomas Vermaelen moving to Barcelona and Mats Hummels seemingly staying at Borussia Dortmund.

Ajax value the 24-year-old, who has also been linked with Barca, at £20m, and the Daily Mail claims that United's hopes of striking a deal with the Dutch outfit have improved after Tuesday's negotiations.

Versatile Blind can play at left-back and in midfield, and was even used as one of the trio of central defenders that Holland employed in the 3-5-2 formation that Van Gaal has introduced at United.
