Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had reportedly been open to Paul Pogba leaving Old Trafford earlier this summer.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had reportedly been open to Manchester United selling Paul Pogba earlier in the summer transfer window.

Despite acknowledging that he was open to taking on a new challenge, which resulted in interest from Real Madrid and Juventus, Pogba has remained at Old Trafford.

The World Cup winner has started in each of United's opening four matches in the Premier League, suggesting that he remains in the plans of the club's boss.

However, according to the Daily Mail, Solskjaer would not have stood in the 26-year-old's way had a deal been agreed during pre-season.

The report adds that the Norwegian demanded that any transfer funds raised from a sale be invested into strengthening his own squad.

Pogba effectively has just under three years left on his contract with United, although there appears little prospect of a renewal being penned in the future.
