Manchester United have reportedly been knocked back in their pursuit of Arturo Vidal after Juventus rejected a £34m bid from the former Premier League champions.
The Chile international has been linked with the Red Devils for some time, but United are believed to have stepped up their interest in the midfielder after signing Angel di Maria for a British record fee of £59.7m.
There have been conflicting reports in Italy, with some publications claiming that a deal between Juve and United has been agreed, while other outlets have stated that the Serie A side are refusing to sell the midfielder.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, United submitted the big-money offer, but Juventus have turned down the offer as they try to fend off the Red Devils with four days remaining in the transfer window.
United, who are yet to win a Premier League game this season after two matches, have signed Ander Herrera, Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo and Di Maria so far this summer.
