Manchester United have reportedly identified Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek as an ideal signing should Paul Pogba depart Old Trafford this summer.
Pogba has turned out just eight times for United during an injury hit 2019-20 campaign, and the France international continues to be linked with a move away from the Premier League.
The likes of Real Madrid and Juventus have both been touted as potential destinations for Pogba, although it remains to be seen how the coronavirus pandemic will impact transfer dealings during the summer window.
Nevertheless, TodoFichajes claims that United are preparing for Pogba's possible departure, and the Red Devils are stepping up their pursuit of Van de Beek as a result.
The report suggests that Van de Beek is likely to leave Ajax in the near future, with the 2019-20 Eredivisie declared null and void amid the COVID-19 outbreak.
The 23-year-old registered eight goals and six assists in 23 league appearances for Ajax before the season was abruptly ended, and the midfielder's current deal in the Dutch capital will expire in 2022.
United would reportedly have to fork out €40M (£35.1m) to sign the Netherlands international.
