Manchester United have reportedly made contact with West Ham United as they consider a formal offer for Declan Rice.
The North-West giants have been linked with Hammers centre-back Issa Diop in recent days as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to strengthen his backline ahead of the new campaign.
However, according to The Sun, United are also interested in securing a deal for Rice before the end of the transfer window.
Rice - a graduate of the West Ham academy - has emerged as one of the club's most prized assets over the past 12 months after starring as a defensive midfielder.
The 20-year-old is also being tipped to become a force in defence, which is something that will appeal to Solskjaer as he looks for long-term options in that area of the pitch.
Like with Diop, United may have to offer in the region of £60m for West Ham to entertain parting ways with a player who holds a long-term contract at the London Stadium.
