Lille president Gerard Lopez has revealed that Liverpool have been in contact with Nicolas Pepe's agent to discuss a move to Anfield.
Pepe enjoyed an impressive 2018-19 season for Lille, scoring 22 league goals - a total only bettered by Paris Saint-Germain's Kylian Mbappe - and setting up 11 more.
The 24-year-old has been regularly linked with a switch to the Reds this summer and he is supposedly open to making the switch.
Lille chief Lopez has suggested that a move to Liverpool could go through in the coming weeks, though competition is expected to be provided by PSG, Inter Milan and Manchester United.
"I know there have been discussions with the player, not with us as a club," he told RMC Sport. "Liverpool have players in those positions and I read that maybe there were players who could leave, or not.
"I am not particularly focused on Liverpool. But it is true that there have been discussions with agents."
Pepe is currently away on Africa Cup of Nations duty with Ivory Coast.
