Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho admits that he had to 'make sacrifices' when deciding to leave England for Germany as a teenager.

Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho has acknowledged that he 'made sacrifices' to progress his career when leaving England for Germany.

In search of regular first-team football, Sancho departed Manchester City for Dortmund in 2017 in a deal which saw him move to another country at the age of 17.

Sancho, now 20 years of age, has developed into one of the best prospects in the world, contributing 31 goals and 42 assists from 90 appearances.

At a time when he is being heavily linked with Manchester United and Chelsea, Sancho has admitted that he has gone through 'a challenging time'.

On England's official YouTube channel, Sancho said: "Another challenge. This one has been the biggest one yet. Living abroad is a whole different game, away from everyone, family, friends. The sacrifice is deep.

"But, for me at the time, I just felt I was ready to challenge myself and challenge for a place in the first team and I felt Dortmund was the right place to go at the time."

Dortmund are said to value Sancho, who has a contract at the Westfalenstadion until 2022, in the region of £100m.
