Harry Kane is open to running down his contract at Tottenham Hotspur before leaving on a free transfer next summer, according to a report.

England captain Harry Kane is reportedly prepared to remain with Tottenham Hotspur for the 2023-24 campaign before leaving the club on a free transfer next summer.

The 29-year-old's future is currently the subject of much speculation, with both Manchester United and Chelsea believed to be keen to sign him in the upcoming window.

Kane only has a contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium until June 2024, leading to suggestions that he could seek pastures new during this summer's market.

However, any deal for Tottenham's all-time leading goalscorer would be incredibly complicated, with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy continuing to insist that the team's star player is not for sale.

Kane will again end the season without a trophy, while Spurs are facing a huge battle to qualify for next season's Champions League, currently sitting fifth in the table, six points behind fourth-placed Man United, who have two games in hand.

Man United have allegedly identified the England captain as their leading summer transfer target, but the club are not prepared to enter into a long-running saga.

According to The Telegraph, Kane is seriously considering his future, with all options on the table.

The report claims that the striker is open to seeing out the final year of his contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium before leaving on a free transfer in the summer of 2024.

Under that scenario, Kane would be free to open talks with foreign clubs over a pre-contract next January, which could see him offered an enormous signing-on fee.

Man United are believed to want a new striker on board before the start of their pre-season tour in July, which could see them move their attention away from England's all-time leading goalscorer.

Mauricio Pochettino is widely expected to become Chelsea's new head coach, and the Argentine is said to be keen on a reunion with Kane during the summer market.

However, it is difficult to imagine Spurs sanctioning a sale to Stamford Bridge, while the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal are not realistic contenders for his signature.

The strongest foreign interest is believed to be coming from Bayern Munich, but the German giants are unlikely to be prepared to pay the £100m fee that Tottenham would want.

Kane has again been in strong form for Spurs during the 2022-23 campaign, scoring 26 goals and registering five assists in 44 appearances in all competitions.
